I have this problem with raspbmc and tvheadend too, SD mpeg2 used to work but now live channels show just a black screen, when I press stop I get a brief picture as it stops playing. HD mpeg4 has not worked since before Christmas 2012. I can play back recordings made using the tvheadend box but no live viewing.

you can SSH into it as suggested above and enter the command

rm /home/pi/.xbmc-current

which will take you out of the nightly. then load back into “old” normal where you can select another nightly if you wish. worked for me at least.

Yep, same problem over here with 20130124. Also breaks the raspbmc settings program so you cannot go to another build easily. Reinstalling now to be sure…

FYI the 20130124 nightly is messed up in too many ways to list. for me at least. the 21st nightly however is very good. but 24 is unusable.

In a new insttall of rc3 it is not possible to activate LiveTV/PVR.
TVHeadend is not recognized as being installed

i had to try many times again and only got hdmi sound working by setting to 2.0 sound. then sound is heard. then i can 5.1 or 7.1. analog works fine as always.

In my previous post, I should have better specified that during the initial phases of the installation the wifi adapter is a actually detected by the installer as Realtek RTL8192cu and that the light on the WiFi dongle keeps blinking. However, thereafter, the installer prompts the message: “waiting 8 sec for the network interface to come up”. Hope this provides more information. Many thanks!

Thanks for the great work on Raspbmc! I’ve it running on my Rasperry Pi and enjoying it a lot! I’ve only had a few issues during installation, when trying to perform it over my Wi-Fi network using the latest windows installer, which was previously configured with the infos (SSID, WEP Open-Key) required for the connection to be established.
However, when I inserted the SD card into my RPi and booted it up with my USB WiFi adapter (TP-Link TL-WN725N, based on the Realtek RTL8192cu chipset), the installation processed stalled with the message ‘waiting 8 sec to the network interface to come up’. I could only carry on with the installation by plugging in the network cable. After the wired install, however, it was enough to change the connection type within Raspbmc settings from Wired to Wireless and my Raspberry Pi / Raspbmc immediately connected wirelessly to the router, since the credentials were kept correctly by the installer.
Did anyone had the same issue of their USB WiFi adapter not being detected by the new Raspbmc installer? As far as I know, also because of the widely supported Realtek RTL8192cu chipset, this adapter should work correctly… and in fact it does work perfectly with Raspbmc and the Raspian distro. Thank you!
