FYI, My OSX 10.7.5 system can no longer connect via samba even using username pi and password raspberry…suggestions? I can’t copy files to it anymore. And, neither can my windows xp box. And they both worked previously. Can anybody else connect? I’m using 4.1

I’m new to this and trying to grasp how I can use it best. XBMC, Mymovies.dk, plex, Raspberry pi so many things to attempt to understand. If I have lots of simple questions where is the best place to get the answers?

loaded the software, it said it would work after a reboot after rebooting nothing happened just R in corner 20 mins later still nothing. turned off on again, now nothing at all. what do i do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With your pi connected to the rj45 net cable install the wifi configuration. Run it. Call your router wifi name and follow the instructions

Sam, help me. I’m a Pi new user and I’m getting too old (50), I have some avi video files which can’t be played on the raspbmc.

Help will be grateful for me ( my knowledge on Linux is very basic)

Note: to keep the 1080p fluid is better to avoid beautiful configurations and keep the original one on the option fast.

Hi Sam, I had an issue configuring the wireless network configuration on the windows Raspbmc Installer, and more precisely the “passkey” field crashing the application when i press the save button.

The problem is i’m having ‘{‘ and ‘;’ in the passkey string (auto generated by my router) and it’s conflicting with the XML syntax.

I downloaded the visual studio solution from SVN and here is the bug fixi i’m suggesting (tested and working)

On the “networkingForm.cs” file

change the following line :
sw.WriteLine(“”);
with :
sw.WriteLine(“”);

and append this method to your “networkingForm” class

private static string XmlEscape(string unescaped)
{
XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument();
var node = doc.CreateElement(“root”);
node.InnerText = unescaped;

return node.InnerXml;
}

The installation was done with the RJ45 cable, but when XBMC was installed 15-20 minutes later my Wifi was “On” and connected to my Network. I wanted to share with you this simple modification. Hope it helps other users configuring their Wifi with ease.

I bought my Raspberry Pi kit from Maplins. I had no problems setting up a W-Fi connection and the double sided A4 sheet provided was very useful. I decided I needed to look at videos and other media so I chose to buy a pre-loaded RaspBMC card. No instructions came with this card so I looked at the http://www.raspbmc.com site. I found this very confusing. There was no quick way described on how to use the RaspBMC features. Thirty years ago I cut my teeth on the BBC Model B and I was no spring chicken then. I could understand simple programming, I find Linux almost incomprehensible. I am not technically-minded, being a retired History teacher. I tried to access the Wi-Fi by putting details into the Settings. I failed dismally. Because I could not make much sense of your site I typed in a “How to configure RaspBMC” and a number of Youtube presentations came up. One of them, was very useful and it mentioned how to find, load and use the Device Manager.I would recommend that you mention The Device Manager clearly and early in the advice that your site provides.

Hello,
I am French, Thank you for your Raspbmc Frodo 12 distribution.
I installed the latest version of Raspbmc (xbmc frodo 12) on my Raspberry and I would use my USB Hauppauge win tv nova directly for TNT.
Key works on ubuntu 12.04 with Kaffeine:
command line to type in the terminal to install the drivers:
“sudo apt-get install libxine1-all-plugins”
I tried in the same terminal ssh command line on Raspbmc.
I have lots of things that are downloaded but I got error messages at the end.
when I connect the USB key and I type “dmesg” in the console, I have a line
that says that the key driver is not installed correctly.

Can you help me compile the driver for the key to be recognized on Raspbmc and also allow me to use the remote control.
